Business Licenses

Why would anyone want to pay a $10 parking ticket when they could have spent 25cents? I have, but it's usually because I didn't have any change, but I knew the consequence of not plugging the meter.

Let's talk about business licenses. To start a business, there are several things you are obligated to do and it's up to you to get yourself informed.  I'm not writing about how to start a business today, so I won't go into detail about what you need to do to start a business. ( I will save that for another blog topic.) What I do want to discuss is how you need to have a Moose Jaw city business license to do business in Moose Jaw.  This INCLUDES independent consultants. --View Business Licenses--

I too was ignorant to this information.  I thought I was doing a good deed by offering an 'Independent Consultants'  listing page on this web site, Moose Jaw Business Listings, not realizing how many unknowing participants of this infraction there are. I feel obligated to inform others that if you are caught without a business licence and you are doing business in Moose Jaw, you will be fined $200.  There are different levels of business licenses based on income and this will also determine the cost of the fine.

The good news is, that if you have income less than $50,000 from this business, the cost of a business license is $25/year. That's $2.08/month the approximate cost of a Timmie's coffee.

What you do with this information is up to you. Whether you know or don't know or didn't know, the consequence of not paying for a $25 business license will still result in the same fine. Pay the quarter, it's cheaper!
